The first in a series of Migatronic Co-Welder robots has been installed at Spooner’s Ilkley factory.
The robots aim to complement the highly skilled welders by automating more of the repetitive tasks, increasing “arc on” time and allowing skilled welders more time to focus on other critical fabrication activities.
In a time of severe skills shortages in the manufacturing industry, the equipment presents an opportunity to upskill our factory team to be able to programme the robots to maintain our consistent high quality.

The increased capacity also comes with environmental benefits of reduced gas usage and fumes, furthering our sustainability objectives.
Scott Hudson, Spooner Operations Director said:
“The Co-Welder is the welders choice of automation, the controls and programming are designed the way welders think and work, making it easier to incorporate into the production environment.”
